Petrichor Pantry

East Launceston, TAS

Petrichor Pantry;

We are a young energetic couple, that has been raised around the country side of Australia and France. Lily is from a remote country town called Denmark in Western Australia and Antoine is from a northern small town called Marck in France. We have a lot of experience in hospitality, farming and early childhood education.

Petrichor is a term that describes a unique and earthy smell that appears after rain or watering the garden on a warm day. This smell and feeling reminds us both of our childhood. It is a key memory of ours we share, as it reminds us of the days we would play and help our parents in the gardens. Our business will be based on our farm, located in the north of Tasmania amongst the beautiful Tasmanian wildlife and farm lands.

We are currently producing some gourmet mushroom, aromatic herbs and vegetables, and creating our fruit orchard for the future. We have been creating and working on a range of different produces, which in turn will be added to our pantry. Our delicious and unique products will be sold at local markets, selected retail businesses and restaurants.

On our property we aim to produce and cultivate a wide range of plants, trees, vegetables and fruits. We have become intrigued and curious about uncommon or rare heritage varieties that we do not see in our everyday lives. Of course, we will still need to have our base range of herbs and vegetables that are delicious and never fail to surprise us. With all of our plans and work in mind, we are aware we cannot produce everything on our property, this is where we outsource to other local business.

We are also making some charcuterie and exploring cheese making. For anyone out there that likes to sit on their front veranda at the end of a busy week, with a glass of wine, and a board filled with local cheeses, cured meats, crackers and other little delicacies, I think we speak the same language. Our methods for creating and making follow alongside the traditional ways of the French, Spanish and Italian, but with a unique Tasmanian twist. We aim to make quality produce over quantity, this is why these delectable meats will not be sold in any retail stores or restaurants. The only place you can find this produce will be at our cellar door.

Our future holds many different surprises but our cellar door will be the cherry on top. Alongside our food forest, farm animals and farm life we want to welcome the locals and tourists into our little slice of heaven. We hope to sell and share our products with people from near and far, give back to the community and provide experiences for people to make new memories and leave with a full belly.
